LHDN MyInvois e-Invoicing for interior design firms in Malaysia

e-Invoicing for Interior Design Firms

From quotation to confirmation, progress invoice and LHDN validation — all in one place. Peace of mind for the accountant, and for the boss.

e-Invoicing adds a step to every invoice an interior design firm issues: the design-fee deposit, the design balance, each progress claim and every variation order. When invoices are prepared in one tool and validated in another, that step becomes manual work — copying amounts, checking client tax details, and chasing rejected submissions — on top of a billing process that was already hard to keep up with.

Sound Familiar?

  • Invoices are made in one system and re-keyed into the MyInvois portal.
  • The accountant chases clients for TIN and registration details every time an invoice is due.
  • A rejected submission sits unnoticed until the client asks where their e-Invoice is.
  • Nobody can easily tell which progress claims have been validated and which haven't.

From Quote to Validated e-Invoice

  1. 1. Client details captured at quotation. The client's registration and tax details are recorded when the project is set up — not chased at invoice time.
  2. 2. Quote confirmed. The confirmed quotation becomes tasks on the project.
  3. 3. Work completed. Finished tasks are flagged for billing — see progress billing.
  4. 4. Invoice issued and submitted. The accountant issues the progress invoice and submits it to MyInvois for validation from the same screen.
  5. 5. Status recorded. Validation status is kept against each invoice, so you always know what has been accepted.

e-Invoicing — FAQ

Do interior design firms in Malaysia need to issue e-Invoices?

Malaysia's e-Invoicing rollout under LHDN's MyInvois system is being phased in by business size, so most interior design firms will need to issue e-Invoices for their client billing, including progress claims and variation orders. Check the current LHDN timeline for the phase that applies to your firm.

Do we still need a separate e-Invoicing portal?

No. Invoices are created from the project and submitted for validation from the same place, with the validation status recorded against each invoice — no re-keying into a separate portal.

What about walk-in or individual homeowner clients?

Homeowners are named clients on a project, not anonymous “cash sales”. Capturing their details properly keeps both the e-Invoice and your client history clean — see why lumping customers under cash sales is risky.
